Naval Tactical Fiber Switching System (NTFSS)™
Non-blocking
128-Channel NTDS
Universal Matrix
Switch System
The Naval Tactical
Fiber Switching System
(NTFSS) features
a flexible and scalable
switch matrix architecture
which meets the needs
of centrally or remotely
located NTDS Parallel
and Serial applications.
Unlike a centrally-located
large-system switching
block, the NTFSS
enables network operators
and test managers
to design the best
configuration to
meet their switching
requirements. The
scalable units make
it possible to interconnect
large tactical equipment
co-located or remotely
located into a non-blocking
switching network.
The NTFSS uses
X-COM’s patent-pending
NTDS-to-Fiber technology,
which multiplexes
NTDS signals over
fiber optic cables
thereby eliminating
the need for each
channel to have individual
copper lines between
the switches. The
NTFSS provides low-latency
as well as a transparent,
non-blocking interconnection
between any pair
of devices. By regenerating
100% of the incoming
signal, the NTFSS
ensures maximum data
integrity. The switch
system allows NTDS
networks to be rapidly
reconfigured using
a PC or Master Switch
Controller.
Features:
- Scalable
Two, three, or four XPS-32 switches can
be connected to create a fully non-blocking, low-latency switching network of
64, 96, or 128 channels
-
Flexible
Connect NTDS devices located in up to four different physical locations into
a single network
- Low-Latency
Less than 500 ns ensures error-free and transparent communications
- Non-Blocking
Simultaneous non-blocking full data rate operation on all channels
- Versatile
Interconnect up to 128 NTDS Type A, B, C, D, E, H, MIL-STD-1553B, and OJ-451
devices
- Cost-Effective
Two, three, or four XPS-32 switches can
be connected using high-speed fiber optic links to create a fully non-blocking,
low-latency switching network of 64, 96, or 128 channels
- Flexible
By populating line cards as needed, the switch can be customized to individual
system needs and populated as additional requirements develop
- Extended Range
NTDS devices and XPS switches can be colocated or remotely located up to 14 km
apart
- Small Form Factor
Large number of channels available in a small amount of space
