Part #: MPS-128

The X-COM Systems MPS-128 Matrix Switch System features a flexible and scalable architecture which meets the needs of centrally or remotely located NTDS Type E Serial applications. Unlike a centrally-located large-system switching block, the MPS-128 enables network operators and test managers to design the best configuration to meet their switching needs. The scalable units make it possible to interconnect large tactical equipment co-located or remotely located into a non-blocking switching network.

The MPS-128 uses X-COM's patent-pending NTDS-to-Fiber technology, which multiplexes NTDS signals over fiber optic cables thereby eliminating the need for each channel to have individual copper lines between the switches. The MPS-128 provides low-latency as well as a transparent, non-blocking interconnection between any pair of devices. By regenerating 100% of the incoming signal, the MPS-128 ensures maximum data integrity. The switch system allows NTDS networks to be rapidly reconfigured using a PC or Master Switch Controller.

Features

  • Scalable - Two, three, or four MPS-32 switches can be connected using high-speed fiber optic links to create a fully non-blocking, low-latency switching network of 64, 96, or 128 channels.
  • Flexible - Connect NTDS devices located in up to four different physical locations into a single network
  • Low-Latency - Less than 500 ns ensures error-free and transparent communications
  • Non-Blocking - Simultaneous non-blocking full data rate operation on all channels
  • Powerful - Interconnect up to 128 NTDS Type E devices
  • Cost-Effective- By populating line cards as needed, the MPS- 128 can be customized to individual system needs and populated as additional requirements develop
  • Extended Range - NTDS devices and MPS switches can be colocated or remotely located up to 14 km apart
  • Small Form Factor - Large number of channels available in a small amount of space

Applications

MPS-128 Typical Application

An MPS-128 consists of four MPS-32 chassis linked together via fiber optic cables to create a low-latency, non-blocking configuration of up to 128 channels. The MPS-32 sub-switches can be centrally co-located in a large matrix switch or up to 14 km apart. The MPS-128 is typically used at shore-based test, evaluation, and training commands to allow equipment to be easily and rapidly reconfigured in order to mimic many different ship combat system configurations. The MPS-128 allows network operators and test managers to interconnect MIL-STD-1397C Type E devices without the need to ever disconnect NTDS cables.
