Part #: MPS-128 CPU Card

The MPS-128 CPU Card creates an integrated fully non-blocking 64-, 96-, or 128-channel Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS) matrix switching network by connecting two, three, or four MPS-32 NTDS Type E Low Level Serial (LLS) switches located in close proximity or up to 14 km apart. Each MPS-32 unit provides low-latency as well as a transparent, nonblocking interconnection between any pair of devices. It regenerates 100% of the incoming signal ensuring maximum data integrity.

As part of X-COM's line of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) NTDS solutions, the rackmountable MPS Expansion Kit offer the highest number of channels in the smallest form factor available. The MPS Expansion Kit allows NTDS networks to be rapidly reconfigured using a PC or Master Switch Controller. It is designed to cost-effectively meet the unique needs of today's NTDS development, evaluation, and training environments.

Features

  • Powerful - Interconnect up to 128 NTDS Type E devices in any channel-to-channel combination
  • Flexible - NTDS Devices and MPS switches up to 14 km apart can communicate directly via fiber optic cables
  • Non-Blocking - Simultaneous non-blocking full data rate operation on all channels
  • Expandable - Two, three, or four MPS-32 switches can be connected to create a fully non-blocking, lowlatency switching network of 64, 96, or 128 channels
  • Low Latency - Less than 500 ns ensures error-free and transparent communications
  • Extended Range - 100% signal regeneration and active matrix circuitry mitigates adverse effects of long cables

Applications

MPS-128 Typical Application

Using MPS-128 CPU cards, up to four MPS-32 chassis can be linked together via fiber optic cables to create low-latency, non-blocking configurations of 64, 96, or 128 channels. The MPS-32 sub-switches can be centrally co-located in a large matrix switch or up to 14 km apart. The MPS-128 is typically used at shore-based test, evaluation, and training commands to allow equipment to be easily and rapidly reconfigured in order to mimic many different ship combat system configurations. The MPS-128 CPU card allows network operators and test managers to interconnect NTDS Type E devices without the need to ever disconnect NTDS cables.
